Equipment Operator I-Streets
The City of Staunton’s Public Works Department is seeking an Equipment Operator I to join its team in the Streets Division.
Successful candidate performs routine semi-skilled work in the operation of motorized equipment related to street maintenance and construction; performs manual labor related to work assigned; Performs regularly scheduled standby duties including sewer, water, streets and storm related problems. Responds to unscheduled emergency work such as storms, ice and snow emergencies. Performs seasonal operations such as leaf collection, heavy trash pickup and snow removal.
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of the eighth grade and some experience in the operation of motorized equipment. Possession of valid driver’s license with good driving record and CDL Class B license with tanker endorsement. Must work in adverse weather conditions. Must be willing to work nights, weekends and holidays if inclement weather or other adverse conditions require the clearing or work on streets etc. Will be on call on a rotational basis for emergency work. Individual is subject to pre-employment physical/drug screening and random drug testing.
$17.11/hr or higher DOE/DOQ (+) excellent benefits. Position is open until filled.
