Head Start - Long-Term Substitute Instructional Aide (Dixon Education Center)

Shenandoah Valley Head Start is a regional preschool program serving the communities of Augusta, Bath, Highland, Harrisonburg, Staunton and Waynesboro. SVHS is a federal grant funded program with a long standing history of success. Our mission is to provide a quality preschool program that forms partnerships among families, sites, and communities. The program emphasizes the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development that is age appropriate for children while encouraging lifelong learning and empowering families through parent engagement.

The long-term substitute position will serve the Head Start programs of Staunton City. The substitute will be responsible for supporting the implementation of the learning experiences that support each child’s growth and development, providing safe, healthy and developmentally appropriate environment, and supporting comprehensive services. This position will support classrooms daily and will provide coverage when Head Start staff are absent. This position provides consistent staff in the program's classrooms.

Successful completion of background checks is required upon hire, including TB test and physical exam. Professional development, comprehensive services, general support/oversight with regulations is provided by staff in SVHS in cooperation with onsite administration.
