AQUATICS DIRECTOR/RECREATION PROGRAMMER

The Recreation Department is seeking a candidate who is responsible for successfully implementing initiatives that align with the core values of the organization in Aquatics and Recreational Programming. This position will focus on Aquatics management during the pool season and Recreation programming in the off-season. This position serves as a vital role facilitating a safe and welcoming environment at all City owned aquatics facilities. The Aquatics Director is responsible for the administration, finance, program development and safety standards of Staunton Parks and Recreation.
The Aquatics Director/Recreation Programmer will be responsible for the following:
- Program Development and Management
- Supervision and Leadership
- Operational Effectiveness
- Risk Management
The ideal candidate has a minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience as well as, pool maintenance experience, and recreational programming. Additionally, the candidate must possess the following certifications/licenses:
- American Red Cross Lifeguard
- American Red Cross CPR for Professional Rescuer/AED/Oxygen Administration
- ARC Lifeguard Instructor-must obtain withint the first year of employment
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO)-must obtain within the first year of employment
- Water Safety Instructor Certification (WSI) a plus

Grade: 10
Hiring Range: $47,690 to $55,000: DOE/DOQ
Start Date: On or around mid to late October 2024
Reports To: Assistant Superintendent of Recreation
