HUMAN RESOURCES GENERALIST

Staunton City Schools, located in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley, is seeking highly qualified applicants for the position of Human Resources Generalist. The Department of Human Resources provides shared, quality services to the City of Staunton and Staunton City Schools by administering a comprehensive program with a focus on attracting, retaining and motivating a high quality, diverse workforce.The City and Schools provide a competitive compensation and benefits package, the opportunity to provide rewarding services to the community and schools and a working environment that encourages employees/teachers to maximize their talents and skills.

This position supports the Staunton City Schools' recruitment and recruit school processing; provides support in the areas of benefits, pay, employee relations and; day-to-day support for employees and department leadership.

Preferred candidate will have:

• Experience in Human Resources; preferably public schools/local government;
• Experience with Tyler Munis HRIS and Kronos software systems (or have the willingness and desire to learn) and;
• Minimum of an Associate’s Degree in human resources, accounting or related field, or equivalent amount of training and experience.

Preferred candidate must be able to:

• Develop a high level of proficiency in using the HR and Payroll system and maintenance of employee records;
• Collaborate effectively, verbally and in writing, with other school departments.;
• Conduct comprehensive data gathering and analysis as well as provide detailed reports using HRIS software;
• Prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines;
• Understand  pay practices and calculations and;
• Understand laws and policies regarding pay, employment, and other HR issues.
